Doncaster Rovers Belles are pleased to announce that Rachel Williams and Suzanne Davies have become the club's first signings of the summer.20-year-old Rachel is an England Under-23 international midfield player who joins from Leicester City Women. Rachel has been at Leicester since she was 12 years old and has progressed through their Centre of Excellence and enjoyed success with their senior side. This has seen them rise through the divisions into the Northern Division of the Premier League, leading them to the Midland Combination League title last season. Rachel is a competitive player, who leads by example, has good aerial ability and is very adept on the ground. Belles Manager John Buckley said: "'Rachel was a priority target for us and we are very pleased that she has decided to join the club. We are convinced that she can make a big impression this season in the Premier League as well as on the international scene with England." Suzanne is a striker who joins from near neighbours Rotherham United. The 25-year-old has been a profilic goalscorer for the South Yorkshire outfit over the last few seasons. In 2006-07, Sue hit a massive 50 goals as Rotherham lifted the Midland Combination title and last season, she was an integral part in Rotherham's survival in that division, again finishing the club's top scorer with 25 goals. Sue is tall, strong, good in the air, has two good feet and judging by her track record she knows where the goal is. Buckley said: "This is third time lucky for us with Sue. We have tried to bring her to the club twice in the past and I am delighted that she has agreed to come this time. I think that she will give us more of a physical presence in attack and I am convinced that she will be a success at this level." | |||||||||||||||||
