![]() After three years away, Ipswich Town will be returning to the Premier League next season after they captured the South East Combination title. Of the four Combination Champions, Ipswich were the only team to have been competing at this level last season. After going down to a defeat in their second match of the season against Welwyn Garden City, Ipswich then embarked on a 17-match unbeaten run which carried them all the way to the Championship until losing their last game, ironically once again to Welwyn. Ipswich have finished near the top in each season since their relegation but this time, Colin Kent's squad made no mistake and, although the margin at the end of the season was two points, the title was actually clinched with two matches left to play when they beat Gillingham 2-0. The goals of Kristie Turner and Amy Warnes have been important in Ipswich's success, whilst other important contributions have been made by Faye Lunn, Emma Gregory, Michelle Allum and Justine Peacock amongst many others. Ipswich's success in the league coincided with their move to a new ground at the start of the season. The club now plays at King George V Playing Field, which is also home to Whitton United. The new home ground is a popular venue, attracting many supporters for both the male and female teams which play there. | |||||||||||||||||
