 Lincoln City have secured the services of England goalkeeper Kay Hawke for at least another season.Lady Imps chairman Geoff Adams and first team coach Sam Willett made the trip across the Pennines to sign contracts with Hawke - who the Lincoln Chairman has hailed as "the finest keeper in the English game" - at Flowery Field Primary school in Hyde (near Manchester), where she works as a highly qualified teacher. Witnessed by several of her class, Kay signed a contract to protect Lincoln's net for the 2008-09 season, which will be her second at the club. She was signed from National Division side Blackburn Rovers at the beginning of last season to play for Lincoln, when long standing England under-23 keeper Nic Hobbs left the club. Delighted chairman Geoff Adams said: "We are absolutely over the moon to capture the signing of Kay for another season. It's my opinion she is the finest keeper in the country at the moment, and if I'm honest, I thought we might lose her after just missing out on promotion to the National Division last season. "I know National Division clubs have approached her even though she was still under contract to us, and it has taken a mighty effort to fend them off during the closed season. Therefore I think her signing for us this coming season is an even bigger coup for us than it was last season. "I have no doubt in my mind that the signing of this world class goalkeeper for next season has massively increased our chances of achieving our holy grail of promotion to the top flight of women's football - she gives us a huge amount of strength and confidence at the back, and quite frankly brings another dimension to our game. I'm positive I speak for the whole club and everyone who supports the Ladyimps when I say how delighted we all are that she has decided to stay with us next season!" Kay, who is now contracted to play for the Lady Imps until the end of June 2009, said: "I really like the club and all the people - I thoroughly enjoyed playing for Lincoln last season and feel that this is a club that is moving in the right direction. Also, I just love Lincoln as a place. It's pretty and quiet and I always I love it when I am there - I was never really going to sign for anyone else this season." Sam Willett added: "Kay is a hugely valuable and valued member of our team and I am personally delighted we have managed to keep her for another season!"
