Crewe appoint new management team
 Women's Football News 18 Jun 2008

Crewe Alexandra are delighted to announce the appointment of three new additions to their coaching staff.

Callum Walsh and Jon Bartlett are joining from Liverpool as Head Coach and First Team Manager respectively. Fitting in with the club's vision for the future, both are graduates of Sports Science from John Moore's University in Liverpool. Also joining the club is conditioning coach Neil Atkinson, who has a wealth of experience from an athletics background. The new additions join existing coaching staff, Luke Turner and Paul Davis.

"I feel that this is a step forward for the club," said Chairman Russ Edwards. "I have just completed my degree in Sports Psychology at MMU Cheshire and am passionate for this club to become an enviable model of excellence in the women's game, using all the latest management, coaching and sports techniques."

Another major announcement is that the base of operations has returned to the popular Cumberland Arena in Crewe, with both winter training and matches being held at the same location. Summer training has moved to the MMU Cheshire campus in Alsager.

"We may not have the financial backing like some of the big clubs but what we will have is a really exciting environment for the players to develop," added Russ Edwards. "Although invevitably losing some senior players after relegation, there a number of very exciting young players graduating from the Centre of Excellence this season and the club feels that the new appointments bode well for their future careers in football.

"We have already started a physical fitness conditioning programme and our aim is to get the players into peak physical fitness."

The club is interested to hear from experienced players who like the sound of their new set up and want to continue learning and developing. Please e-mail russ.ed@btinternet.com for further details.
