So much to look forward to - Hope - 2 Oct 2006 - Women's Football NewsA jubilant Hope Powell lavished praise on her players after they achieved their dream of qualifying for next year's World Cup Finals in China.

"The whole year has been brilliant and the players have just grown in stature," she said. "To come away from home and get a draw with France is just fantastic and now we have so much to look forward to.

"Not losing in the last year has meant that we came here with some confidence, especially after the performance against Holland.

"I'm just so glad it's over. I think the girls were magnificent tonight but over the whole course of the qualifiers, we deserved it.

"Our backs were against the wall, but we stuck our game plan. A lot of credit must go to the French, they are a good side.

"There is too much quality in Europe for there to be only five teams at the World Cup and that is unfortunate for France tonight. We were unlucky last time, and this time I'm just glad it's us."
